Hmm. If this is to be believed, making an automnous bipedal robot has been done. Though I have to doubt the ability of a ton of Mini Cooper-cum-robot to stop a ton and a half or more of Land Rover.

Honda and I believe Sony have also made completely automnous bideds too.
